FLY FOR STEAME SOUTHERN AFRICA INITIATIVE 6TH EDITION
An inspirational introductory flight which uses the power of a flight to inspire the next generation, especially the girl child, to consider careers in Science, Technology Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Enterprenuership. (STEAME), aviation and aerospace. In this initiative Dare To Dream has partnered with AirBotswana and CAAB to fly atleast 1000 preferably girls and boys aged between 8 – 18 years for 30 minutes overhead Gaborone, Francistown and Maun.
On February 12, 2022, Dare To Dream hosted a Fly for STEAME Southern Africa initiative to celebrate International Women and Girls in Science Day. Sixty students, along with parents and teachers, were able to experience an introductory flight on air Botswana ATR-72 air craft from Seretse Khama International Airport (FBSK) IN Gaborone, Botswana.
Partnering up with AirBotswana and Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana, we were able to host 60 girls from different rural communities and underprivileged backgrounds from three schools in Botswana:20 girls from Mmakgori primary school, 20 girl from Artesia Junior Secondary School and 20 girls from Mahupu Unified School. The students were overjoyed at the airport before and after the flight.
Dare to Dream had previously held a Women In Leadership Summit 2021 at the Grand Palm Hotel and Casino conversion resort,Gaborone on the 18 – 19 November 2021 to raise funds to impact these girls through this program.
