ENGEN FIRST LEGO LEAGUE PROGRAMME

With a mandate to impact 100 students (both boys and girls) Engen Marketing Botswana embarked on a 200km journey to a small village called Takatokwane some few kilometers outside of Molepolole. This is where we find the state of the art school known as Mahupu Unified School. Situated adjacent to the Lethakane-Morwamosu highway, Mahupu is a scenic wonder equipped with the latest teaching technology and sport fields. Enrolling 36 streams (Form 1 to Form 5) of students from nearby villages, the challenge that Mahupu experiences is that most of their students are only accustomed to their lives in the rural areas and don’t have exposure to some of the 21st Century skills that most kids in the city have access to.
Engen partnered with Dare To Dream to sponsor 100 students to participate in 2022/23 season of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Although, it is worth noting that a group of students from Mahupu participated on their very first FIRST LEGO League Challenge hosted at the University of Botswana back in 2019 and actually became the champions. The goal that Engen had in mind was to sponsor a total of 10 teams from the non-completing classes an expose them to the all-encompassing technology of the FLL. From the program they would put their research skills to practice and come up with solutions that are in line with the given theme.
