FIRST LEGO LEAGUE COMPETITIONS (2022)
10 teams from Mahupu Unified School representing Engen, 3 teams from Jwaneng Acacia Primary School, sponsored by Debswana Diamond Company and 3 teams from Ramotswa – Kagiso Senior School sponsored by Clover, impacting a total number of 150 students.
The 16 teams were given a chance to present their innovation projects, explain their design process and demonstrate core values such as teamwork, innovation and inclusion to judges, referees and spectators. For project presentations, teams utilized diverse resources for their Innovation Project to help them gain a comprehensive understanding of their problem, as well as having a creative, well-researched solution and Students also designed and built a LEGO robot and then programmed it to autonomously complete a series of missions to score points in 2.5 minutes robot game under robot presentation.
At the end of the competition winning teams were robot design award, project research award, core values award, robot performance award as well as champions award. The winning teams went to represent Botswana and participate at the FIRST LEGO League South Africa Championships on the 2nd-3rd December 2022 in Johannesburg. The goal of this competition was to inspire the next generation to positively contribute to Botswana’s Vision 2036 of knowledge-based economy, as well as to inspire students to become enthusiastic about science, engineering, mathematics, and technology.
